Sir Henry Cooper was a true legend. The former British heavyweight boxing champion is best remembered for his epic battles in the ring with Muhammad Ali, pictured, which resulted in Ali triumphing and being victorious in both fights.
Sir Henry was a British, Commonwealth and European boxing champion who fought 55 times as a professional and twice won the BBC sports personality in 1967 and 1970.
Sir Henry retired from boxing in 1971 after a defeat to Joe Bugner. He never won a world title. He was a true gentleman and inspiration.
My deepest condolences to the Cooper family.
Terry Smith, Classic Cutz, Fourth Avenue, York.
