PART of a York tourist attraction has been temporarily closed after a piece of timber fell from the ceiling.
Station Hall, at the National Railway Museum, was closed following the incident on Sunday and remained closed until yesterday lunchtime as a safety precaution.
A spokesman for the museum said: “On Sunday, a short piece of timber holding one of the internal perspex glazing panels in place came loose and fell on to one of the platforms in Station Hall.
“No one was injured by the falling timber and no part of the collection was damaged.
“As a safety precaution Station Hall was closed immediately and remained closed until around lunchtime yesterday.
“During this time the rest of the panels were inspected to ensure there were no further loose timbers.
“Station Hall is now open to the public as usual.”
