I WAS privileged to be a candidate at the recent election and at the count the following day.
However, Labour must remember this vote was not a vote for them but a vote against the Lib Dems, just as at the last General Election those who voted for LibDems were voting against Labour.
The people in both cases were and are sick of being told what they can do and how they must do it.
They are sick of their money being wasted on ideas that are not their own, and of people in power who forget about the voters the minute they win.
If Labour wants to remain in power, it must not forget the voters and their needs. We do not want to constantly know how bad the Lib Dems were and how bad their policies and actions were – we know, believe me.
Nor do we want to hear how the coalition is the worst thing ever; we know their feelings on this.
They have to join together, realise that we are all suffering the long-term effects of the worst Labour government ever and move forward and work for York.
