THIS diamond couple from York are celebrating 60 years of marriage today.
Edward and Felicitas Gee, of Wood Street in Heworth celebrate their diamond wedding today.
Born in York, Edward, 80, left the UK for Austria in 1948 with the West Yorkshire Regiment, where he met his wife Felicitas, 79, who worked in a shoe factory.
The couple married in Austria in 1951 before returning to England.
In 1952, complications arose during the birth of their daughter, Patricea, 58.
Both mother and baby survived, but Patricea was left suffering from a debilitating illness.
A year later their son Leslie, 57, was born and they have a granddaughter, Maxine, 24.
Edward worked in several jobs including the Ministry of Defence, after he left the armed forces, before retiring in 1995.
The couple are now both carers of Patricea and are planning on having a quiet family get together with a bottle of champagne to celebrate their anniversary.
