THREE York women are climbing high to raise money for charity.
The trio, Donna Davies, Deborah Sawyer and Sharon Clothier, are off to Tanzania in August to climb Mount Kilimanjaro.
Their aim is to boost funds for Help For Heroes, Cancer Research UK and the Yorkshire Air Ambulance. To raise money for the trip, the friends have planned a Family Funfest at the Acorn Sports Club, in Thanet Road, Acomb, on Sunday, May 29.
The event, which starts at 2pm, will include a barbecue, bouncy castle, face painting, various stalls, an auction, stand-up bingo and a raffle.
The day will also feature live bands, including York Turnpike Trust (2pm), Foxsake (4pm), Travelin Band (6pm), The Guv’nors (8pm) and Stealer (10pm).
Prizes up for auction include a Tanglewood Strat copy guitar, a £20 food and drink voucher, a family ticket for Eden Camp, a day at the races for four, an organic hamper and a week’s holiday.
Donna said: “We would like to thank everyone involved for giving up their time and supporting us in our quest.”
