AS a native of Hull, I would like to reply to the statement made by Andrew Waller about the reason Hull has the wonderful KC Stadium and here in York we can’t get a plan off the ground (The Press, May 4).
Hull City Council did not waste taxpayers’ money with a Barbican decision pouring money into a bottomless pit.
They didn’t pander to the bus companies with traffic-management schemes to try and fit the FTR and bendy buses into York.
The didn’t waste £6 million on a proposed new office HQ at Hungate, and then propose to spend more than £30 million renovating the old railway offices, when there was office space at Monks Cross with plenty of parking; an office in York centre would have sufficed.
It had nothing to do with Kingston Communications; it was sound financial planning which your party was lacking over the past eight years, although it seemed longer.
