A POLICE car has been involved in an accident with a motorbike, causing traffic problems in and out of York.
A 19-year-old motorcyclist was taken to Leeds General Infirmary with serious but not life threatening injuries, following the accident which happened at about 4.45pm on the A64 York Road near Potterton.
The A64 was closed in both directions at Bramham cross roads, with the York-bound carriageway reopening at 6.35pm. The westbound carriageway was reopened at about 8pm.
A police spokesperson said the roads policing vehicle was on routine patrol when it was involved in the accident.
The force’s Professional Standards Department has been made aware of the incident and enquiries are being conducted.
