I AM privileged to have been a Labour candidate for last Thursday’s local elections in York and would like to thank those residents who voted for me.
The campaign trail was long and hard, but ultimately rewarding as it led to personally meeting just under 2,000 residents in Fulford.
I am also fiercely proud to have been a part of a campaign led so ably by Coun James Alexander, who is now rightfully the leader of the council.
Owain Gardner, Stamford Street East.
York.
• WE WOULD like to sincerely thank all Holgate residents who campaigned on our behalf and who voted for us on May 5.
We are proud and grateful that Holgate residents not only put their faith in us again, but that we also greatly increased our majority in the ward.
We firmly believe this is the result of the hard work Holgate’s Labour councillors have put in over the past four years, including former councillor Denise Bowgett.
It was a wonderful result for us and for the city and we are looking forward to continuing to serve the people of Holgate and of York to the best of our abilities.
Councillors James Alexander, Sonja Crisp and Joe Riches, Holgate ward, York.
• THE two newly elected Labour councillors for Dringhouses and Woodthorpe would like to thank all those who voted for us. We are enthusiastic about following through on our promises to the ward and city.
If you live in or run a group in Dringhouses & Woodthorpe ward, please help me help you by getting in contact via cllr.asemlyen@york.gov.uk or by phone on 07891 989310 / 01904 654355.
Perhaps I can help you apply for grants from the ward and other sources? Could you use, for example, money for publicity to recruit members, run events or for equipment? Sometimes a few hundred pounds can make a massive difference to a volunteer-led group. Being your councillor is about making it possible to realise the potential of the diverse people and organisations in the ward.
Together we can all contribute to making York better.
Coun Anna Semlyen (and on behalf of Coun Gerard Hodgson), Grange Street, York.
