STAFF and students at Selby College had a ball with a comedian at the launch of a cookery book to raise funds for charity.

Tommy Cannon, half of vintage double act Cannon and Ball, joined the party at the college to launch The Sweetest Thoughts.

The book is dedicated to Howden’s Scott Robinson, a hospitality and catering student who lost a battle with cancer at the age of 18.

Tommy said: “It’s a real honour to be here today, I don’t think there can be many people whose lives haven’t been touched in some way by cancer; I know mine certainly has.

“I never got to meet Scott, but from what I’ve heard today I feel I know him and this book is a great tribute to his memory.”

The book features more than 50 dessert recipes from staff and students at the college, and proceeds from sales will be split between Macmillan Cancer Support and Cancer Research UK. The book costs £4, and is available at Tesco in Selby, or by emailing thesweetestthoughts@selby.ac.uk
