REIGNING division one champions Ainsty opened their defence of the York John Smith’s Darts League title with a 10-0 win over Cueball.
The star performers were Adam Thompson (21-dart leg), Steve Evans (21), Chris Thompson (17), Paul Botterill (19) and Martyn Turner (13).
Runners-up Mitre were also 10-0 winners against Tree, with their best being Rich Corner (17, 19) and Lutz Leutzsch (13).
Acomb’s Jack White (18), Paul Dixon (15, 18), Lee Brundrett (19), Keith Turner (180) and Mark Mason (180) played well, but Shaun Day (118 c/o for 21), Heath Scaife (18, 19), John Mooring (17, 19), Rich Saville (119 bull c/o for 21) and Tony Cooper (16) saw Shepherds to a 7-3 win.
In division two, Danny Moore (20, 22) played well in his singles before partnering Pete West in the decider to give Holgate a 6-4 win over Ainsty ‘B’, whose best were Chris Kitson (22) and Eddie Stewart (23).
Dean Cairns (21) led Severus to an 8-2 win over Flag, while Acomb’s Liam Keenagan and Lee Goddard took a decider against Turf.
