A TRIO of York Triathlon Club athletes figured in the top ten at the popular Tadcaster Triathlon.
More than 20 club members were in the field of 220 taking part in Tadcaster Community Swimming Pool’s fundraising competition.
And pride of place went to Richard Whitfield, who won the event by three minutes. The event comprised a 500-metre swim, 14 kilometre bike ride and a 7km run, with funds raised helping to keep the community pool open.
Whitfield completed the course in 54 minutes 13 seconds Veteran Will Kaye, who was second last year, finished third in 57-33, while David Thomas charged through the field following the swim to take fifth in 58-31.
The bike ride followed a rural route towards the villages of Boston Spa and Bramham, before returning to Tadcaster, while the run was along the road to Newton Kyme before turning back towards Tadcaster along the river bank.
Chris Porter, swimming pool manager, said: “The event was a great success. Not only was it well attended, but it also helped to raise the profile of the swimming pool.”
