York RI ‘C’ retained their place in division one after a 6-3 win at Bootham ‘C’ in the play-off in the CE Electric York and District Table Tennis League.
BT ‘A’ won promotion to division two as they overcame Shepherds ‘C’ 6-2, George Morrison and Howard Broadbent in top form.
Broadbent took the opening set against Paul Kozyra, 11-9 in the final game and although Mike Surtees and Chris Hutchinson picked up wins for the losers, it was not enough.
Aviva ‘B’ retained their place in division three with a narrow 5-4 win over York RI ‘H’.
Dennis Chatterton and Howard Lewis won two games each, and were backed up by an important success from Andrew Slezak to clinch the victory.
