A 17-year-old youth will appear before Harrogate magistrates tomorrow accused of manslaughter after a teenager was killed outside a pizza parlour.
The youth was among four people arrested on suspicion of murdering Daniel Crowther, of Stokesley who died in James Cook Hospital, Middlesbrough, in the early hours of Saturday. He received head injuries in an incident outside College Pizzas, College Street, Stokesley, just after midnight on Friday night.
The other three people arrested, a 17-year-old from Guisborough and a 25-year-old man and a 17-year-old woman both from Middlesbrough have been released on police bail.
A statement from the dead man’s family said: “Daniel meant the world to us, he was a lovely young man who had a bright future and the rest of his life to look forward to. He was bright and popular with lots of friends who will be just as devastated as we are that his life has been cut so tragically short. The loss of Daniel has left a huge hole in our lives and we would now like to be left to grieve in private.”
North Yorkshire Police have appealed for witnesses to contact Northallerton CID on 0845 6060247, quoting reference number 12110078100.
