ON BEHALF of myself and my fellow ward councillor David Horton, I would like to thank Acomb residents who voted for us at the election. The support we received was truly overwhelming.
We will continue to work for, and with, all residents in the Acomb ward over the next four years and look forward to meeting with residents old and new in our street surgeries.
Coun Tracey Simpson-Laing, Acomb ward, Salisbury Road, Leeman Road, York.
• THANK you to the people of Westfield. We are hugely grateful to residents in Acomb, Chapelfields and Foxwood for the support you gave us in the elections and we hope over the next four years to prove worthy of your confidence.
It would be wrong of us not to start our term of office by paying tribute to the outgoing councillors for Westfield: Susan Galloway, Steve Galloway and Andrew Waller.
They have all served the local community for a number of years and deserve thanks for the contribution they have made.
During the election we made a number of key pledges and we intend to honour them all.
We hope to be open and approachable ambassadors for the local community.
Starting on June 4, we will be holding weekly advice surgeries every Saturday between 10am and 11.30am in the Energise Centre in Cornlands Road.
Any resident of Westfield ward is welcome to come along to speak to one of us during those times.
Thank you once again for your support.
Coun Steve Burton, Coun Lynn Jeffries and Coun Dafydd Williams, Westfield ward, York.
• WE WOULD like to thank all those who voted for us at the recent local elections in the Rural West York ward.
Supporting our residents has been and will remain a priority.
Together with our fellow councillors, the Conservative group will provide effective opposition and hold the ruling executive to account during the next four years, in order to secure the best possible future for our city.
Coun Ian Gillies, Coun Paul Healy Coun Chris Steward, Rural West York ward.
• AS THE newly-elected independent councillor for the Osbaldwick ward, I would like to thank everyone who voted for me and the support given by individual members of Osbaldwick Parish Council in the run-up to the elections.
I would just like to make it clear at the outset that I consider myself first and foremost a local resident.
My interest will be in ensuring that this ward has an effective voice within the council and I will endeavour to use the position of councillor to secure a fair proportion of funding for this area.
Once again, thanks to all the voters.
Mark Warters, Ward councillor for Osbaldwick.
• I would like to thank the residents of Derwent Ward who voted for me in the council elections. It was always going to be difficult to win in the ward against two popular local candidates, but I strongly feel it is always important to give the electorate a choice in the elections, and I am proud to be in a party which ran candidates in every ward.
As a result of the Labour gains we now have a Labour council which I strongly believe will put York residents first and will be ably led by James Alexander.
Finally I would like to thank the other candidates in Derwent ward who all contributed to pleasant and positive campaign.
Andrew Collingwood, Langwith Lane, York.
