York St John University is seeking to expand its database of actors and is asking people to attend a screen test next month.
The current database has only been in existence for 18 months, but the level of demand has been so high from the university’s film-makers that more actors are needed. Screen tests on June 4 and 5 will be available to anyone, amateur or professional, who wants to make a film in North Yorkshire.
At present, the database contains almost 50 actors ranging in age from 19 to over 70. Actors have appeared in many highly praised films made by York St John University students, including the recent Royal Television Society award winner The Sword, a dramatic film about thwarted ambition. Professor David Fleming, Vice Chancellor of York St John University said: “We take great pride in our civic involvement and initiatives like this benefit both the city and our students. We are taking a lead in developing York as a digital and creative centre and making the city attractive to film makers is a vital component of that strategy.”
Screen tests will take place in the film and TV studios at the university.
