A VICAR served up cuppas at Aroma coffee shop in Haxby to raise awareness of Christian Aid’s work with Nicaraguan coffee farmers for Christian Aid week.
During the Rev Stephen Burgess, district chair for York and Hull Methodist District, said: “It was good fun. They didn’t let me loose on making too much coffee in the end. I did some serving and had a good chat with people.”
Aroma was opened by Haxby & Wigginton Methodist Church as the village’s first fairtrade coffee shop in September 2008 and it places emphasis on somewhere that people can go and find support and a chat.
Mr Burgess said: “I think the message got across. Christian Aid is not just about fundraising but raising awareness and providing a good deal for people who slave away to make the coffee we drink so easily in this country.”
