SO 45 per cent of York’s proletariat have voted and the political colour in the council chambers takes on a new colour with Labour’s large overall majority.
The disaffected yellow Lib Dems, who would never vote Tory blue under any circumstances, despite being in a Coalition Government, willingly gave their allegiance to the York socialists – their natural partners.
The young Labour leader, James Alexander, 29, admits to being an ambitious career politician. After reading political and economic history at the University of York, he dabbled with the retail trade, but found it not to his liking. He has always been on somebody else’s payroll; never established his own business; never employed anybody; and never risked his own money on an endeavour.
Now his hands are on the council’s millions and responsible for a large workforce – a terrifying thought. Don’t forget he is of the same band of brothers and sisters in Westminster who bankrupted this country over 13 years of maladministration.
What is a Fairness Commission, which he advocates? Life is unfair, so why establish a paid-up body to try to prove otherwise. Labour’s future cuts will be ideologically based, and not sound economic savings, l bet.
