THESE cute kittens need a new home. The Cats Protection League, based at Amotherby, has recently taken in 15 kittens and has a further three who are only five days old, plus three orphaned kittens and a cat about to give birth.
Liz Wattrus, from the league, said it was unusual to have so many kittens at this time of year and anyone who could help rehome them should phone her on 01653 697918.
Meanwhile in York, Summer the dog is helping to raise cash for the RSPCA by climbing one of the UK’s highest mountains.
The arthritic German Shepherd-collie cross, who lives at the RSPCA in York, is set to walk with two RSPCA volunteers to the top of 1,085-metre Mount Snowdon to help raise cash for the animal charity’s York branch.
York RSPCA volunteer Sarah Boylan said: “Summer is one of our long-stay dogs. She has been with us for many years.
“This event will be a challenge for her to meet new people and see new things and she will be taken by two of our volunteers Mandy Broadhead and Marie Sandal.”
Summer will be completing her punishing climb at the end of this month – and she is looking for generous donations from the public to help spur her on.
