FIREFIGHTERS were called to a car on fire on a main road into York during rush hour.
The incident occurred on the roundabout of the B1237 and the A59, Poppleton, shortly after 5pm on Tuesday. Before the crew arrived, passing motorists used fire extinguishers to put out the flames in the vehicle’s engine compartment.
A North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesman said the cause was likely due to an electrical fault.
