AN historic York company has encouraged residents to nominate their unsung heroes in this year’s Community Pride Awards.
Nestlé, one of York’s biggest employers, have again sponsored the Spirit of Youth category in the eighth Community Pride Awards, which help recognise and celebrate the differences that the city’s residents can make in the lives of others.
Last year’s winner of the Spirit of Youth award, Joe Armer, was recognised by the judges for his determination to make York a better place for young people, and has since gone on to represent the city in the UK Youth Parliament.
James Maxton, spokesman for Nestlé, said: “Joe was a deserving winner who epitomised what the Spirit of Youth Award is all about, someone who is willing to sacrifice his own time and effort to make a difference for others.
“Nestlé, as one of York’s biggest employers is delighted to continue its involvement in this category providing the City of York the opportunity to recognise the work that young people do.”
The awards celebrate the unsung heroes in the York community, and nominations can be made by anyone, for anyone living in the City of York Council tax area that has made a difference to someone’s life.
James said: “We hope as many people as possible put forward their nominations if they believe that someone deserves recognition.”
All nominees must live or be based in the City of York Council tax area, and the winners will be invited to a special awards ceremony in October.
Nominations be submitted online by going to yorkpress.co.uk/pride before Friday, July 22.
