THOUSANDS of visitors are expected to attend this year’s annual Bed Race organised by Knaresborough Lions.
The Knaresborough Lions have set up Park and Ride services for visitors to the event on June 11, with local businesses.
Bed Race safety officer Alan Walgate said: “Knaresborough Technology Park and Logic Fire and Security are kindly allowing us to make use of their car parks on Manse Lane, just off York Road in Knaresborough. Eddie Brown Tours are operating a bus service from there to Chapel Street in the town centre, turning around every 15 minutes or so from 10am to 2.30pm, and 3.30pm to 6.30pm.” Both parking and the bus service will be free.
Ninety teams are expected to take part in the 46th Bed Race, who will dress themselves and their beds at the castle, before parading through the town to Conyngham Hall Fields in a pageant of colour from 1pm.
The race itself starts at Conyngham Hall at 3pm and goes along Waterside, up Castle Ings to the Marketplace, back down Bond End, before finishing with a swim across the River Nidd.
