I HAVE just read a letter from a York Hospital worker saying she is having problems arranging her childcare (Letters, May 19).
What she needs is for the hospital bosses to use their common sense. If you have staff with children, they need to have childcare.
Try talking to your staff – women with children by and large have oodles of sense. Try different shift systems so long as all areas are covered. It costs no more to work round people and you may finish up with a happy workforce.
I’m at the end of my life and I and most of my friends decry the lack of common sense in life.
No one appears to have any in the top jobs. They need consultants because they obviously are not up to the job they are doing.
In my day, you worked up to the top jobs and along the way you learned your trade. No longer. Anyone can do anything, regardless of ability. No wonder the country is in such a state.
My heartfelt plea is, let’s get back some common sense in all areas. Thank you in anticipation of a miracle.
