Londesborough Park posted an historic first win in the new hardball format in the York & District Junior Cricket Association Quality Solicitors Burn & Company under-11 League (HB) as they overcame Ovington.
Ciaran Brooke was the pick of the Park bowlers taking 3-5. For Ovington Charlie Power made 13.
Londesborough Park made it two from two with a win over Dunnington. J Hemsworth hit 15 and J Nutt 14 with L Stephenson taking 2-10. For Dunnington H Bradley top-scored with 15.
Sheriff Hutton Bridge took the points in a tight game with York ‘A’ where neither batsmen nor bowlers really dominated. Exall (11) and Mahon (10) were the pick of the Bridge batsmen with Campion (1-2) and McGill (1-1) bowling tightly.
For York Backhouse made 11 and Williams took 1-2.

In the Quality Solicitors Burn & Company U9 League zone ‘A’, there was a close game at Bolton Percy where visitors Clifton Alliance were the victors by just two runs.
Sheriff Hutton Bridge batsmen Alex Chalton (15), Edward Ramsden (14) and Isaac Giannini (14) were on form as their side opened their campaign with an away win at Ovington. Josh Mould 2-2 kept up the advantage with the ball.
There was some high scoring as Acomb beat hosts Easingwold.
For Acomb J Thornton made 31 with H Watkinson (25), W Anderson (14), N Hutton (13) and J Hickey (10). In reply, J Wentworth made 13. Acomb’s N Hutton (2-4) and H Watkinson (0-1) were the pick of the bowlers York batsmen S Backhouse (43) and R Beaumont (26), supported by J Woods, J Evans and L Boddy, posted a challenging total in zone ‘B’ against Acomb.
This was despite the Acomb bowlers taking wickets at regular intervals and F Kaye and C McKay posting figures of 2-5 and 2-11 respectively. Other wicket-takers were D Simpson, J Evans and H Oaten.
The Acomb batsmen were not as prolific but K Mitchell with 15, D Simpson (14) and F Kaye (10) made some inroads into the York total.
C Hawes was the pick of the York bowlers with 2-7 but spells of 0-2 from S Backhouse and 0-3 from J Woods made sure the points went to York.
Selby bowlers were on song when they travelled to Londesborough Park in zone ‘C’.
Nathan Gorse (3-10), Will Rich (2-8) and Lucas Webster (2-9) led the way. Earlier, Will Rich top-scored for the visitors with 30.
Dunnington opened their account with a win against near neighbours Osbaldwick.
The only game to take place in zone ‘A’ of the Hirepoint Plant & Tool Hire U13 League saw visitors Pocklington rattle up 132-8 largely through the efforts of B Wilson (32) and J Baker (23). H Jackson posted figures of 3-15.
Hosts Tadcaster Magnets could not cope with the bowling of A Smith (5-10), and H Isenstein (3-2) and were all out for 46.
Ovington ‘B’ made 95-7 largely through their opponents Drax giving them 33 in extras, although 26 from Leo Hunter did help.
Despite an unbeaten 30 from Charlie Adamson, Drax fell short at 81-5.
At Pocklington, B Wilson hit 32 for the second game running and J Baxter (30) chipped in to pile on the runs as their team managed 118-7 against Bolton Percy. J Wilson took 2-5 and Duncan Robertson 2-12.
The visitors never got going and closed on 34-7 – Matt Orr top-scoring with 16.
Another team giving away runs were Acomb ‘B’ who totalled 36 extras to allow rivals Dringhouses to score 69-8 despite 2-3 from S Backhouse.
Acomb’s reply was restricted to 52-5 through the bowling of D Robinson, who took 3-7 and 2-6 from J Spaven.
In zone ‘B’, 21 from B Richardson saw Osbaldwick to 63-6 at Clifton Park.
When York ‘A’ batted only Tom Spearman with 22 managed to stand up to A Guildford, who took six wickets for a mere five runs. York were all out for 53.
Malton and Old Malton scored 106-6 with S Harland (31) and R Gaughan (30) the main contributors.
In reply, Acomb reached 93-7 with A Taylor hitting 30 and L Atkin 25. Harland followed his solid batting performance by taking 4-15.
Sheriff Hutton Bridge suffered a rare home defeat.
Batting first they made 61-5 against Ovington with C Ford making 25. C Buckley (2-5) and J Browning (2-7) were the pick of the visitors’ bowlers.
Ovington had no difficulty passing the total for the loss of just one wicket as Dom Kitching carried his bat for 29.
In their next game, Ovington ‘A’ had J Browning (24) and Kitching to thank for their total of 71-7.
Heworth, with M Fairburn scoring 32 came close at 67-3, but were kept in check by C Buckley taking 2-5 again.
At Osbaldwick, tight bowling from Acomb’s J Hudson (4-5) and D Everard (3-2) restricted the home team to 55-8 with A Burton top-scoring with 25.
Acomb finished on 61-3 with A Taylor hitting 35, graced by a six to win the match.
A knock of 17 from M Brigham was the top score as Malton & Old Malton struggled to 65-6 through the bowling of Dan Cass (2-2) and J Kay (2-4).
Sheriff Hutton Bridge then found the bowling even tighter and could only score 46-4 in their overs, despite 25 from J Simpson.
Visitors Woodhouse Grange posted 86-4 with 30 from L Wilson against Stamford Bridge for whom S Wright took 2-10 in zone ‘C’.
Stamford Bridge came close through L Wardby (31) and S Wright (26), but 3-7 from G Walters saw them fall just five runs short at 81-8.
Batting first, visitors Yapham were all out for 68 with Tom Loaten taking 3-5 and Will Jones 3-8. D Bird showed most resistance when making 31.
In reply, Dunnington’s Oliver Peeke-Vout scored 28 as did Will Jones to see their side home by eight wickets.
Although gifted 22 extras, visitors Bishopthorpe only managed to reach 55-5 with Woodhouse Grange bowler Rob Richardson taking 2-1.
An unbeaten 30 from G Anderson saw Woodhouse pass the total but not before they too had lost five wickets.
At Clifton Park, Londesbrough Park batted first and made 83-6 with Ben Shingles 31 not out. C Hall took 2-4. Despite Tom Spearman’s 31 York ‘B’ finished on 59-5.
