POCKLINGTON Predators have done their town proud.
One week after beating Rawcliffe to win the York FA Cup, the under-13s struck again against the same opposition to lift the League Cup - the first time that particular trophy has come back to Pocklington.
Rawcliffe began the game sporting only ten men, but threatened the Pocklington defence from the outset.
Digging deep, the Predators regained their composure and with Huw Jones working hard in midfield, broke the deadlock.
Captain Rob Cooney’s corner was headed in by Nathan Saltmer.
However, Rawcliffe countered and bagged a leveller before half-time.
The Predators’ power came to the fore in the second half. Cooney restored the lead with an acrobatic leap and bicycle kick into the corner of the net.
Oli Hughes then teed up Cooney for his second before George Pilkington laid the ball off to Hughes to calmly chip the Rawcliffe goalkeeper.
The 5-1 triumph was rounded off by Cooney, who took a long through ball around the ’keeper to complete a handsome hat-trick.
