THERE was entertainment to suit all tastes at events throughout York and North Yorkshire at the weekend Parliament Street, in York, was alive with the sound of brass music on Saturday as all three of the city’s Railway Institute-based bands joined forces.

The free concert saw about 60 players from the York RI Golden Rail Band, the York Railway Institute Band and the section’s new Development Band take turns to perform throughout the afternoon before wowing the crowds with a massed bands finale.

Musical director Nicholas Eastwood said Parliament Street “was rocking”.
