Royal wedding celebrations were reignited in Sherburn-in-Elmet when the village’s gala adopted last month’s wedding of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.
The event started with a parade of floats decorated by various organisations through the village, headed by an open-topped car in which the “Prince” and “Princess” Jamie Fletton and Hannah Thornton, students at Sherburn High School, both travelled.
The winning float belonged to the Peter Pan Nursery.
A big crowd turned up at Eversley Park to enjoy a fun fair, pet show, craft fair and a display by the Towton Battlefield Society.
Gala committee chairman Alma Hodgson said: “It was a fantastic day.”
