Anastasia Smith
THE new Miss York 2011 is Anastasia Smith, a 20-year-old make-up artist from Norton, near Malton.
She was chosen last night from 28 contestants who had reached the final of the sell-out contest, held at the Royal York Hotel.
She said today she had suffered from severe asthma since a very young age, and planned to use her triumph to raise awareness of the condition in schools.
She also planned to raise money for Asthma UK and the Jane Thomlinson charity by running in a 10K run at the end of June.
