YORK John Smith’s Ladies Darts League semi-finals night belonged to Cygnet as they won through in three of the four competitions contested.
Karen Richardson, who was playing in the triples as a reserve for Lynn Thompson who will be back for finals night, closed on 119 in the deciding leg against Tramways ‘B’.
Richardson, Michelle Britton and Dawn Exton – Britton replicating her Humberside county form – hit the tons.
Exton checked in the first leg with the Tramways trio, Sue Lowery, Carole Layne and Ruth Norman, ready to pounce on any miss.
Layne closed to set up the decider, while Britton and Layne traded tons before Richardson coolly slotted in her big finish to secure victory.
Cygnet meet Burnholme in the finals after the club’s Toni Smallwood, Dawn and Charlotte Scott won a three-match thriller against Flag’s Sharon Neads, Sarah Jackson and her sister Jane Dobson.
Burnholme took the opening leg with a double eight check.
The second leg was a close affair, Dobson checking 50, Smallwood was the difference in the third and deciding leg hitting the tons and Charlotte Scott sealing a finals slot for the club side.
Britton and Exton played Lowery and Tramways colleague Jo Hodges in the captain/vice captains cup.
The first leg saw the Cygnet pair hit a maximum winning nine-dart sequence 132, 140 and a 91 check out from Britton who then closed 50 to secure a 2-0 victory in the finals.
They will come up against Smallwood and Marj Pearson (Burnholme) who were also 2-0 victors against Castle Howard Ox’s Sandra and Tracy Bruce.
The first leg went to the wire before the club duo slotted home a double one finish. Pearson then closed double 18 to progress to the finals.
Britton, alongside Exton, had really found her mark when it came to the pairs closing on 37 to win the first leg against Smallwood and Pearson, with scores of 140, 2 x 125 in the second leg and a double one check-out for victory.
Britton would have certainly claimed player of the night.
In the final they will meet Britton’s sister Amanda and partner Richardson, who were taken to the wire by Cueball pairing Tina Platt and Lynne Clapham.
Platt closed on double-three in the first leg, Richardson hit the tons in the equalising leg before a double 15 check from Britton.
The Cueball duo could not take advantage of a fair lead missing double after double and in the meantime Britton closed double 19 for a finals’ night encounter against sister Michelle.
Smallwood and Amanda Britton were engaged in a three-leg thriller, the Burnholme player closing 96 for 23 darts.
Britton replied with a 26-dart leg closing 20 double tops.
The decider was nip and tuck before Smallwood, with the advantage of the off, slotted home a double top finish.
Smallwood will meet old rival Cueball’s Tracey Farmeary who gamed 19 for a 2-0 win against Tramways Carole Layne.
