THOSE members of City of York Council who successfully opposed attempts by Labour to ditch the Library Square pedestrian scheme are to be congratulated.
The new area looks great, and the level access to the library building will be a boon for all those with mobility problems.
Let us hope that the new Labour administration does not simply rule out other city-centre improvements of this kind over the next four years.
