DOES The Press not get enough letters from the general public (your normal readers) without having to print letters from councillors with their usual point-scoring and uninteresting banter?
All the parties are as bad as each other; no wonder less than half the people of York bothered to vote.
There are plenty of issues arising daily both in York, the surrounding area and even nationally which surely arouses peoples interest, thoughts and opinions more.
So let’s take the Letters page back to the ‘common people’ and leave the councillors to work a bit harder and use other methods to get the public’s interest through proper debate and door-to-door communication.
In the recent election, only one party visited our door and they were open to discussion; too many others seem to prefer the free and easy way of filling out your letters page.
Ian Stabler, Copmanthorpe, York.
• Editor’s note: We are more than happy to print as many letters as possible from the ‘common people’ of York and surrounding areas, but cannot exclude councillors. So if you would like to be heard, write in to us now.
