WITH regards to Philip Roe’s thoughts on Gordon Brown and Tony Blair (Letters, May 23), yes, Brown and Blair were not angels.
Then again, Brown may have sold off the gold, but the previous Conservative government sold off just about everything else.
Blair may have taken the county into an “illegal war”, unlike the “legal war” we are now embroiled in Libya (I thought we had no money, by the way) or the “legal war” in the Falklands, which could not have come at a better time for Mrs Thatcher.
And on the issue of Europe, now that we have new sensible leaders when is the referendum?
Based on these assessments, no politicians should ever be invited to a royal wedding.
