A NEW Marks & Spencer café is to open tomorrow, creating 20 new jobs in York.
The café, which promises “the best views of York Minster in the city”, will be based in the chain’s Pavement store.
Staff will be joined by Andy R Knot, the commanding officer of 2 Signal Regiment York, and Richard Shephard, director of development at York Minster, to open the 100-seat venue tomorrow morning.
The top floor café will feature a telescope for customers to use in exchange for a small donation which will be given to the Minster.
Andy Crum, the store manager, said: “We’re thrilled to be opening the store’s first M&S Café and in doing so create 20 new jobs for the area.
“We can’t wait for our shoppers to experience our wide range of top quality M&S refreshments while enjoying the stunning views of York Minster.”
