KICKBOXING plunder has been earned by eight York martial arts aces.
Connor Bolton, in the 69 kilogram event, and Courtney Catterson, at 50kg, led the way with gold medals at the WAKO Judgement Day competition in Sheffield.
Catterson has since been selected for the Great Britain squad to compete in the European Junior Championships.
The duo, who train with Way of Life Thai Boxing Club at the Multi-Masters Academy in Layerthorpe, were joined in the medals by club-mate Macauley Catterson, who took bronze in the 62kg category.
The remainder of the medal haul was amassed by members of Daz Catterson’s kickboxing club, who also train out of the Layerthorpe venue.
Silver medals went to Nicole Seymour (50kg), Cameron Shaw (50kg) and Keenen Crake (32kg), with Megan Catterson (37kg) and Connor Crake (37kg) winning bronze.
There were also superb performances from Nathan Wallis (28kg), Sam Watkinson (37kg), Ben Laverick (novice over 65kg) and Lewis Smith (novice over 65kg).
Andy Wilby, of Way of Life, said: “To take 12 fighters and win eight trophies is fantastic. We were really pleased with the way it went.”
