CARERS’ Week, from June 13 to 19, highlights the vital work done by unpaid carers who look after someone else because of illness, disability, frailty or other health issues.
It is a chance to challenge stereotypes about carers and to remind people that it is a tough responsibility that can fall on anyone.
There are many groups in York that support carers and some of them are putting on events during Carers’ Week.
York Carers’ Centre has an information stall at the hospital and at York Explore library, plus a stress management workshop at City Screen and a pampering evening at Browns department store.
York Carers’ Forum has an event at Monkbar Hotel, a service in the Minster, plus an information fair in Guildhall.
