Selby and Dunnington produced a close York & District Junior Cricket Association Quality Solicitors Burn & Company U11 League (HB) game in which Selby ran out the winners.

For Selby, Tom Nicholson (16) and Patrick Abbott (17) led the way, while for Dunnington top performers were Harrison Mussell (22 not out) and Will Turner (2-11).

Ovington took the points from Clifton Alliance thanks to 13 from C Power and hauls of 1-2 from R Sinclair and 1-4 by N Hindle.

Bishopthorpe travelled to rivals Bolton Percy and claimed the Quality Solicitors Burn & Company U11 League (IB) zone ‘A’ points thanks to a performance that included E Kilby with 2-1, L Mortimer 2-13 and P Burtenshaw hitting 11.

For Bolton Percy, James Tucker had figures of 2-6 and J Wilson 0-4.

Acomb ‘A’ got the better of Heworth ‘B’ as Dan Watkinson made 14, Dom Wood 11 and Dan Murray 10. For Heworth, Alistair Browne scored 13, to add to his 2-11 tally.

Tadcaster Magnets overcame Cawood with J Liddle scoring 14 and G Dethridge taking 2-14 for the winners. For Cawood, G Lawton bowled two overs without conceding a run.

Stamford Bridge had a close win at Wheldrake, where D Fitzgerald made 15 and M McFarlane had the impressive figures of 4-4 from three overs.

Wheldrake’s response was led by R Dunn (10no and 2-3) and J Quinn (2-9).

In zone ‘B’, fine individual displays saw Osbaldwick get the better of Pocklington.

Daniel Dyer (29) and Harry Sheppeard (23) top-scored for Osbaldwick with Sebastian Williman (2-25) and Oliver Scutt (4-17) the pick of the Pocklington bowlers.

Williman made 12 to top score in the Pocklington innings but a quartet of Osbaldwick bowlers – George Vardy (4-5), Kewell Ford (3-2), Sheppeard (3-2) and Matthew Popely (3-8) pocketed the wickets and the points for their team.

It was a team effort as Heworth ‘A’ overcame Malton & Old Malton. With the bat Luke Huffer hit 24 while Fergus Mcaughtrie (20), Dan Davison (14) and Ryan Whitley (13) all contributed. When it came their turn to bowl Zak Moorcroft led the way with 4-7 supported by Josh Bell (3-0) and Dan Davison (2-0).

Malton and Old Malton travelled to Ovington and took the points thanks to N Jackson, 12 with the bat, and Josh Berry, 3-1 with the ball.

Osbaldwick secured their place in round two of the Quality Solicitors Burn & Company U11 Cup with a win over Bishopthorpe.

Will Dalton top-scored with 13 while Kewell Ford made 10. Bishopthorpe’s reply was kept in check by the bowling of Harry Sheppeard with figures of 3-5 from his three overs.

Heworth had two close games in zone ‘B’ of the Quality Solicitors Burn & Company U9 League, losing both times.

At Pocklington, they could not overhaul a total of 310, although Will Roundtree and Robert Draper both hit 16, and Jack Wilkinson took 2-18.

At home to Acomb ‘B’, A Browne, with 13 and 2-11, was their star but Acomb’s D Watkinson (15), D Wood with (11) and D Murrie (10) helped the visitors to cross the line.

Stamford Bridge opened their zone ‘C’ season with a win against Selby.

Dan Durkin hit 22 and took 1-0, Taylor Stanton scored 16 and Ben Goodliffe 12 with Sam Pratt taking 2-7.

For Selby Patrick Harpen and Dan Nee both scored 11 and Nathan Gorse 10.

In the Hirepoint Plant & Tool Hire U13 League zone ‘A’, Dringhouses batted first at home to Drax and made 66-7 led by S Backhouse’s 25 against Max McCrea (2-2) and Charlie Adamson (2-10).

A quick 27 not out from Adamson then saw Drax take the points by six wickets.

Another team who struggled at home were Bolton Percy, particularly against the bowling of J Gillington, who finishe with 3-4. Their total of 49-9 was not enough and Thixendale passed it for the loss of only four wickets.

Pocklington’s batsmen were in form to go top of the rankings after L Wilson (33) and J Baker (31) steered them to 126-3.

The young Ovington batsmen struggled against B Potter (4-6) and were all out for 56.

Against Tadcaster Magnets, Acomb ‘B’ batted first and made 50-9 – Jackson’s 2-3 keeping them in check.

Magnets surged to a six-wicket win despite 3-6 from C Marshall.

York ‘A’ put their bad start behind them scoring 98-7 with E Long making 27.

Tom Spearman, with 5-14, skittled Ovington ‘A’ out for just 28.

Another side to put a bad start behind them was Sheriff Hutton Bridge as T Gill’s 21 in a score of 64-6 saw them to a four-wicket win.

Earlier Osbaldwick had made 62-5 largely through an unbeaten 32 from A Burton.

Acomb ‘A’ continued their good start scoring 58-2, with Will Fryer 21 not out in an eight-wicket win over Clifton Alliance. T Robinson’s 23 was the mainstay of the Clifton batting as they closed at 55-7.

In zone ‘C’, 30 from O Bowes got Bishopthorpe up to 73-7. However, visitors Selby eased to a six-wicket success with P Taylor hitting 27 and L Manders 22 in the total of 77-4.

Yapham piled on the runs with Will Cardy 30 and J Foster 28 in the total of 104-2 against York ‘B’, who tried hard but fell short at 64-4.

Londesborough Park scored 129-3 with Nathan Saltmer 35 and A Field 26. It proved too much for Woodhouse Grange who closed on 53-5.

On a batsman-friendly wicket at Ferry Lane, York ‘B’ rattled up 90-1 with W Andrews 31.

In reply, hosts Bishopthorpe also found the wicket to their liking as 30 from A Bindloss, and 24 from D Richardson saw them to 93-1.
