THESE young visitors to Parliament Street did not let the damp and dull bank holiday weather spoil their fun in York.
The city centre was transformed into a traditional English seaside yesterday, thanks to City of York Council, which laid on donkey rides, ice cream vans and even the chance to play beach volleyball with a little help from a Nintendo Wii games console and a very large screen. Unfortunately plans to lay sand and put out deckchairs were victims of the rain.
A Met Office spokesman said the damp weather should start to disappear just as North Yorkshire residents were returning to work this morning.
He said: “We have had a dull and damp bank holiday. On Tuesday, there may be a couple of showers in the morning, but it will be much drier by comparison.
“The temperatures are generally on the up and it should reach maybe 15C or 16C today.”
