A GROUP of York students has been providing sports therapy support at the inline hockey world championships.
The foundation degree students signed up for a “hands-on” trip to the veterans roller hockey world championship at Beroun, in the Czech Republic.
The students provided support to all participating international teams including Italy, France, Slovakia, Great Britain, Scotland and the Czech Republic.
Sports Studies tutor Peter Wirt, who plays for York Flyers, is the manager and a player in the Great Britain roller hockey team, said: “This is the second roller hockey world championships event. All the players are over the age of 40 and therefore the sports therapy treatments will be in demand!
“I am confident the York College students will provide first class sports therapy support as required at such a high-profile sporting event.”
