The new-look Westfield Children’s Centre in York has opened to local children and their parents and carers.

The centre has been providing services for families with under- five youngsters since 2007, but over the last few months a new meeting room, playroom, office and reception area have all been added to the original venue.

An activities day was held to celebrate the unveiling of the centre. Events included a competition for children from Westfield Primary School, Kaleidoscope Nursery and Cheeky Monkeys Playgroup to make stars to illustrate the children centre’s logo. The winning stars will be hung in the centre.

The centre already provides a range of services, including speech and language groups, a music and movement group and parenting support and drop-ins. Staff will continue to use Foxwood Community Centre and Sanderson Court to take groups out into the community.
