BURNHOLME’S Toni Smallwood was crowned individual champion of the York John Smith’s Ladies Darts League after she toppled Cueball’s Tracey Farmeary in the final shoot-out of the season.

Where Farmeary’s finishing let her down, Smallwood produced solid darts in the second leg to take the title with a check for 19 darts.

That feat also earned her the player of the night award.

In the other competitions, Cygnet players ruled the roost.

Karen Richardson and Amanda Britton secured the pairs’ title with a 2-1 conquest of Cygnet team-mates Michelle Britton, Amanda’s sister, and Dawn Exton.

The latter closed the first leg on double ten and Richardson replied in kind to set up the decider in wich Michelle Britton hit the tons.

More consistent scoring from Richardson and a 56 check guaranteed the title.

Michelle Britton and Exton were joined by Lynne Thompson in the triples where they challenged the Burnholme trio of Smallwood, Dawn Scott and Charlotte Scott.

Both teams struggled on finishing in the first leg before Britton slotted home an elusive double one.

The pattern continued in the second leg, both teams squandering finishes before Smallwood checked on double one.

The decider remained tight and tense but a first time go at a double saw Thompson checkout on 60 for triumph.

Britton and Exton again paired up in the captain/vice-captain competition against Smallwood and Burnholme captain Marj Pearson.

The first leg was nip and tuck – Exton closing on double six after Britton slipped in two tons.

With the Burnholme pairing missing double chances in the second leg, Exton strode to the oche to close on double four for the championship.
