EAST YORKSHIRE rally driver Jonny Milner’s confidence in the changes made to his ‘Xtreme’ 700 BHP Toyota Celica GT4 was rewarded with a win in the second round of the Toyota Sprint Series Championship at Woodbridge.
Following his defeat in the opening race of the Series at Rockingham, Milner, from Huggate, and the Merlin Preparations Team had redesigned virtually every part of the car and beat old adversary Adrian Smith, winner of last year’s Series, by 1.11 seconds.
Milner said: “We’re delighted that all of the modifications paid off and that we’ve now got a win under our belt. The car handled brilliantly and is looking good for the rest of the series.”
Meanwhile, the rest of the Merlin International and Rock Oil supported team also had a successful day with York Rallycross driver Ash Simpson’s victory in the A3-S Class among the wins.
Milner is next in action in the historic 1.16 mile Hill Climb at Goodwood Festival of Speed in July.
