FIRE crews were called to a North Yorkshire school after an industrial dryer caught fire yesterday.
A fire service spokeswoman said the dryer was in the laundry room of Ripon Grammar School when it caught fire due to an electrical fault.
A crew from Ripon attended the scene at about 2.40pm, and used a dry-powder extinguisher to put out the fire, which destroyed the machine and caused 60 per cent smoke damage to the laundry room on the ground floor of the building.
No one was injured in the incident.
