WHY wasn’t David Stephen Welford, of Thornthorpe, Malton, a gamekeeper, fined the maximum £2,000 or six months in prison or sacked from his job for killing a badger (The Press, April 30)?
The magistrate fined him £350; what type of deterrent is that! The magistrate and the badger-killing gamekeeper both should be sacked.
Mr D Fillingham, The Crossway, York.
