SO THE football season is now complete and I wondered if any members of the board of our beloved York City were watching and hopefully taking notes of a few things.
Firstly, there was Barcelona v Manchester United: Barcelona believes in bringing players through their youth ranks (inc Messi) . York City used to bring players through, but this seems to have stopped.
Secondly, over the past few years the play-offs have been unbelievable – cast your minds back say ten years and City’s fixture list included the likes of Blackpool, Hull City, Burnley and Swansea; and while those clubs prosper, we are languishing and many fans must be wondering ,‘What if?’ Thirdly, congratulations to our under-13s for winning the FA Schools Cup. I noticed from The Press that some of the players have already been snapped up by other clubs and some at York City – but will any of them still be at York City in years to come?
I am looking forward to the new season because we have a great manager in Gary Mills. I just hope that we go up as champions; never mind the play-offs, do it in style.
Andrew Wood, Stuart Road, Acomb, York.
