Students were “over the Moon” when Yorkshire chef Stephanie Moon shared her passion for food and local produce with them.
Stephanie Moon, chef consultant for All Things Food, familiar from her appearances on BBC2’s The Great British Menu, made a guest appearance at Tadcaster Grammar School recently, courtesy of deliciouslyorkshire, and proved that “local produce is better every time”.
Introduced to the students by Sophie Waite from deliciouslyorkshire, Stephanie was quick to put the students from Tadcaster Grammar School, Sherburn High School, Selby High School and Carlton’s Holy Family School at ease with her fun and relaxed manner, sharing her knowledge of the profession, testing their knowledge of local produce and giving hands-on cookery demonstrations. Following a question and answer session, the students helped serve up such delicacies as toad in the hole, garlic mash and veg and onion gravy, with all the ingredients being provided by the Farmers’ Cart at Towthorpe. Stephanie trained with Anton Mossiman at The Dorchester Hotel in London and has worked in some of the finest hotels in the world, including several in Yorkshire.
She said: “I love food, the feel of it, the smell of it, the textures and colours it gives and to create something wonderful from raw ingredients never ceases to give me a thrill.”
