Tribute acts will perform at a fundraising event tonight to honour a local country singer who lost her battle with cancer.

Anne Moncaster, from Hopgrove, worked for 20 years as a Patsy Cline impersonator, under the stage name Anne Kristine.

Last year, the mother-of-three was diagnosed with lung cancer, and died just before Christmas.

Ray Hart, a friend, organised the sell-out A Song For Annie concert in November, to raise money for York Hospital’s Cancer Care Centre in her honour.

Now, Ray has set up a second such event, to raise more funds and present a cheque to the cancer care unit, with Mr Motown and Meatloaf joining the bill.

“It’s a celebration of Anne’s life, and to give something back to the charity who helped look after her. The nurses from the cancer care unit will be there, and we’re hoping her partner, Mark, will be there too.”

The November concert raised £1,100 through donations, with tribute acts, including ones to Roy Orbison, Elvis, Patsy Cline, Gene Pitney and Tom Jones performing for free.

The concert, at the Post Office Club in Marygate, starts at 7pm.

Tickets cost £5 from Ray on 07743 896318, or on the door.
