THIS proud pooch is the winner of The Press’ popular Pet Icon competition.
Ruby Noodles, a two-year-old Parson Russell Terrier, received 43 votes to win the title from more than 230 pets which were entered into the competition by their owners.
Her owner, 16-year-old Chloe Garnett, of Poppleton Road, York, said she was surprised when she found out Ruby Noodles had won.
She said: “I thought it would be funny just to see if she would win. The photo I sent is usually the background on my phone so I sent that one because I thought it was a good photo of her. I thought it would be good to see how many votes she actually got.” Chloe got Ruby Noodles, named partly after the Kaiser Chiefs song and partly to appease her dad who wanted to call her Noodles, two years ago.
The family got Ruby Noodles to help Chloe’s nine-year-old sister Mollie get over her fear of dogs and little Ruby Noodles’ charms have worked on her.
Chloe said: “Me and mum really wanted one so we started looking around. Mollie has just grown to like her.”
Ruby Noodles enjoys walking with Chloe when the student at Manor School, who plans to go to college to study child care, takes a break from studying for her exams.
One of her favourite pastimes is playing on the beach in Bridlington and going camping with Chloe.
Chloe won £100 worth of BATA vouchers for use in their country stores, as well as a photo shoot for her and Ruby Noodles, worth £450, from Life Photography in Pickering.
