I EXPERIENCED the two sets of road works on Holgate and Poppleton Roads in York this week, necessitating lengthy diversions.
On my morning journey, from the National Railway Museum entrance along Leeman Road to the station, the time taken to cover the distance was 30 minutes.
It transpired that this extreme delay was due to “pavement works” in Bridge Street, with half of the road closed to traffic from North Street to Ouse Bridge, and controlled by temporary traffic lights. Keep York moving, it’s a joke....God help anyone wanting to catch a train during that time.
