TWO more soldiers have been killed in Afghanistan to add to the list of young lives lost in that un-winnable war.

Just when is this pointless loss of young lives going to come to an end?

Prime Minister David Cameron will doubtless say, as will the other leaders, something along the lines of: “Their great sacrifice will not be in vain”.

Ask these ministerial charlatans the names of any of the soldiers previously killed whom they purported “never to forget”, and it’s doubtful if they could.

The nation would possibly support this war if they were given a cogent explanation as to why it’s so vital for British forces to be there.

The usual flannel would be trotted out about defending the nation against the Taliban, but once the British and American forces have departed, the Taliban will move back in.

With news that Apache helicopters are going to be deployed in Libya, it appears the ground-forces will be next.

Our forces should be stationed in Britain to defend us from threats, and not, to paraphrase Rupert Brooke, be stuck, “In a corner of some foreign field which will never be part of England”.
