York City Fans’ annual darts tournament was won by Phil Chapman.
And in taking the title, Chapman became the first player in the seven-year history of the event to have won it more than once.
Showing steely nerve, Chapman came from behind to beat reigning champion Andy Hunter 4-1 in the final.
He also racked up a belting brace of 180s and several fast finishes throughout the day of the competition.
After just over four hours of qualifying games between the 33 entrants, the top 16 players progressed to the knockout stages.
Champion Chapman and a guest will now enjoy a VIP day at a York City game during the 2011/12 season – a prize donated by the club.
He also won a £20 voucher for Stonegate Yard Bar & Brasserie, tickets for the Bootham Crescent Beer Festival and a signed York City shirt.
Profits from the tournament, including a raffle organised by Andy Leathley, will be used to sponsor a barrel at the Bootham Crescent Beer Festival from June 24 to 26, and midfielder Jonathan Smith’s away shirt for the coming Blue Square premier season.
