THE annual York Carnival brought a party atmosphere to the city centre this weekend.
Stretching from the Minster to Parliament Street, people were treated to a variety of performances, face painting, free workshops and arts and crafts.
Among the many performances, the Youth Council put on a Doctor Who-themed vintage fashion show and Tell Tale Theatre Company from the University of York performed for passers-by.
The York City Council Choir sang in St Sampson’s Square, ukulele band Yorkulele showed off their musical flair and drumming groups entertained the crowds. As the theme for the carnival was space, a space-themed parade also went through the city.
Danielle King, the chair of York Carnival, said: “It’s gone really well. The weather has been great as it was lovely and sunny this morning. It’s run really smoothly and I’m pleased so many people have been involved this year.”
